Small Businesses Benefitted During COVID Pandemic - Views

Ajit Mohan, vice president, and managing director of Facebook India said on Thursday that the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has made it clear how important and effective digital platforms are. He said, the worldwide business has been badly affected by the epidemic but small traders have benefited from the move online.

Grocery stores, local service providers drug stores, and local businesses have catered to the needs of people through the use of the digital medium in times of epidemic. Mohan said this while addressing the 16th Marketing Conclave of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

Mohan focused on using digital platforms. He said digital influence is very important for online as well as offline purchased categories. Digital marketing has proven to be very effective in increasing offline sales of Mondelez chocolate in grocery stores, according to a Nielsen study. He said that this research dates back to the Corona epidemic, whereas digital marketing has reached a greater scale this time today.

Regarding the recent investment made by Facebook in Jio, Mohan said that the investment aims to help millions of grocery stores digitize their product catalogs. It also aims to help grocery stores connect with their customers through WhatsApp.

Mohan said at the end of his address that after the Covid-19 epidemic, the world has changed and new things have emerged. In such a situation, market people should focus on new things instead of working on the old idea again.

He said that in the next few years, when the economy returns to its former position and the rapid growth begins, it will be our fault to follow the world before Covid. He called upon the market people to move ahead according to the need of the hour rather than the traditional way.
